First reccomended to me by a native informant, Awash is definitely THE ethiopian choice in metropolitan LA. Great food, unexpensive, 'underground' enough to make it a best kept secret, polite waiters, creative, etc. PROS: low pricing, astonishing food quality (excellent!, try anything on the left side of the menu, I mean any ethiopian specialities, or the vegetarian combo - a steal!), cool atmosphere, convenient location (hidden enough to make a great impression to any angelino), and they do serve beer too! CONS: extremely long waiting, especially on the weekends (at least, they make the food on demand, and this is a good sign, but be prepared for 30 to 50 minutes of waiting.
